Rite of Election

WORCESTER – People preparing to receive sacraments of initiation – baptism, first Communion and confirmation – at the Easter Vigil gathered with Bishop McManus and supporters Sunday at St. Paul Cathedral for the Rite of Election and Call to Continuing Conversion. They stood when presented by name. Those not yet baptized inscribed their names in the Book of the Elect, greeted the bishop with their godparents and gathered around the altar for the Act of Election. Sponsors gave those already baptized a gesture of encouragement and filed forward with them to greet the bishop. Both groups preparing for sacraments knelt together to be prayed over.
