Father Matthew Norwood, of the Boston Archdiocese, is to speak at this year’s Worcester Catholic Women’s Conference, Sept. 27 at St. Joseph School, Webster.
Father Norwood was born in 1994 and his early formation in the Catholic faith began at St. Paul Parish in Wellesley, where he joined the youth group during high school. Initially drawn by the hope of making friends, his participation deepened his relationship with God – especially through adoration.
Father Norwood began his college studies at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. In 2013, he entered St. John Paul II Seminary while studying philosophy at The Catholic University of America, graduating in 2016. He returned home to Boston to continue his studies at Saint John’s Seminary in Brighton.
Ordained a transitional deacon in 2019 by Cardinal Seán O’Malley, Father Norwood ministered in parishes in Boston and Waltham during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, offering baptisms, preaching, and supporting the faithful amid unprecedented challenges. He was ordained a priest on August 1, 2020, by Cardinal O’Malley at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross.
Father Norwood served for nearly four years as parochial vicar at the Hingham Catholic Collaborative – St. Paul and Resurrection parishes – before being appointed pastor of the newly formed St. Joan of Arc Parish in Westwood on July 1, 2024.
Now shepherding his first parish, Father Norwood brings theological depth, pastoral sensitivity, and a strong prayer life to his ministry. Though still early in his priesthood, he is known for his warm presence, attentive listening, and sincere devotion to guiding souls on their journey with Christ.
Father Norwood will speak on the sacrament of confession, offering the guidelines and graces that come with frequenting the sacrament.
Also speaking at the conference will be Noelle Mering, Dr. Madeline Colon-Usowicz, Adam Janke, and Tim Francis. In addition, the sacrament of reconciliation will be available during the lunch break. The conference will begin with adoration and the rosary led by Bishop McManus who will also celebrate Mass at 5 p.m. in St. Joseph Basilica.
Tickets are $50 and include breakfast and lunch. Ticket prices increase to $60 after Sept. 16. For more information and registration visit wcwconference.com.
