The 138th Annual Novena to St. Anne, Mary’s mother and Jesus’ grandmother, is scheduled for July 18-26 at St. Anne and St. Patrick Parish/St. Anne Shrine in Sturbridge.
The schedule each day is: 5:30 p.m., confessions; 6:30 p.m., rosary procession starting at the Generations Statue near the gift shop; 7 p.m., novena Mass in the outdoor pavilion.
On July 26, the feast of St. Anne and St. Joachim, in addition to the evening schedule, there is a Mass with the anointing of the sick at 11 a.m., followed by lunch.
Masses are celebrated by guest priests, highlighting the cultural and spiritual diversity of the universal Church. Celebrants and their communities are: July 18, Father Donald C. Ouellette, diocesan Cursillo community; July 19, Assumptionist Father Alex Castro, Filipino community; July 20, Father Peter Tam M. Bui, Vietnamese community; July 21, Assumptionist Father Luc Martel, parish community; July 22, Father Richard W. Polek, Polish community; July 23, Father Dario Acevedo, Brazilian community; July 24, Father Enoch K. Kyeremateng, African community; July 25, Father Hugo A. Cano, Latino/Hispanic community; July 26, 11 a.m., Assumptionist Father John Franck, Lay Assumptionist community; 7 p.m. Assumptionist Father Chi Ai Nguyen, provincial of the Augustinians of the Assumption, North American Province.
“There is power in praying together,” said Assumptionist Father Martel, pastor of St. Anne and St. Patrick Parish. “Since the first healing at this holy site, people have come seeking peace and grace. We invite everyone to join us for one or more evenings during this sacred time.”
